Hybrid work made absence harder to see. A sick day, a half-day for a school run or a long weekend that stretches into Tuesday gets agreed in a chat message, and the leave system never hears about it.
Payroll tools report what was entered, so the balance keeps growing. That balance sits on the balance sheet as leave liability, and under Fair Work rules unused annual leave is paid out in cash when someone leaves. Days already taken can be paid for twice.
Muster checks what actually happened. It finds the days people were away, compares them with approved leave each pay cycle, and shows the payroll impact before the pay run.
